Rosberg has become known for his game broadcasts and videos shared on the internet. He makes videos To Tiktok, To Twitch mixed to Instagram.

– I’ve always known that TheGrindMachine is an incredibly good player and he is my role model. I was completely shocked when I found him there in the game, says Tomppa.

Tompa’s playing skills also surprised Rosberg. Rosberg says that he has not played with such young teammates.

– Tompa turned out to be a really good guy and a good player. I then made a video of our games, says Rosberg.

Rosberg is also known on the internet by the moniker TheGrindMachine. Mikael Rosberg

The family-oriented Rosberg has previously worked in youth work and in the security sector before switching full-time to making game videos.

Hate mail

As a result of the exposure he got from playing with TheGrindMachine, Tompa started receiving hate mail on his social media channels. Even grown people posted this.

– The messages said that you would kill yourself and things like this – this made me think a little when it came even from adults, Tomppa says.

Tomppa didn’t talk about the comments he received except for his role model. This shocked Rosberg. The parents got to know about it through him.

– Then I heard through GrindMachine how dark the feedback had been. Yes, it must have touched her, because Tompa’s mother has told her role model about this Kaija tells.

Tomppa himself says, however, that the incident has not left a lasting impression on him. According to Rosberg, Tompa’s hate comments have mainly motivated him to play even better.

– There were also commentators younger than me in Sea who told me that I was a bad player, Tomppa says.

Rosberg also says that he receives hate mail every day. According to him, services that enable anonymity are especially problematic.

– It’s sad. I don’t understand what grown people get out of barking at others and their younger selves online, says Rosberg.

Good conquers evil

Tomppa says his dream is to become the creator of game videos. However, in order to achieve his dream, he feels that upgrading his computer and acquiring streaming products is an obstacle.

– I would like to entertain viewers with my playing, be a good streamer and be kind to others, that’s my dream, Tomppa says.

Tomppa had asked Rosberg, among other things, for advice on what kind of gaming machine he should get from an online flea market.

– I advised Tompa not to get a machine like that, says Rosberg.

Rosberg had made a game video in which Tompa’s successes were visible. One of the spectators had also noticed Tompa’s skills and contacted Rosberg.

– He asked if Tomppa was streaming and if he could help him. I then told Tompa that he had told about his dreams.

The viewer in question had decided with his family to get Tompa a gift card to a computer store. Tompa was told about the gift card in Grindmachine’s live broadcast. The value of the gift card was 1050 euros, which is an amount that would change the dreams of a 14-year-old. You can see the recording of the broadcast from here.

During the broadcast, he went to wake up his mother to tell her the news. The mother came directly to the broadcast to thank for the gift card.

– I said thank you, even though I didn’t know I was on a live broadcast, Kaija laughs.

Rosberg says he will physically deliver the gift card to the location.

“Speaks like Runeberg”

Tompa’s mother says that, as parents, they have experienced the world of games so far mostly as negative, due to a lack of understanding. Tompa’s revelation as a good player has finally surprised even the parents.

– This was a great surprise. He does speak like Runeberg and his English has developed better than I did at that age, Kaija states.

Tomppa says that he played football before, but the motivation took him more to the world of games. Despite this, Tomppa also takes care of the rest of his life.

– I also spend time with my friends, and I haven’t missed any homework, Tomppa says.

With the gift card, Tomppa says that he will get a gaming computer so that it would be easier to make game broadcasts. The new computer would also make it easier to edit videos, which he has learned himself.

Tomppa and Rosberg still play together and keep in touch.

Tomppa and his mother do not appear in their story with their full names due to the sensitivity of the matter.
