Lämsä, who has worked as head coach for the last few years, spoke about the matter at a press conference on Wednesday.
– It was a great honor to work in Salavat. Be grateful to everyone who worked in the company. Due to the global situation, it’s time to take a break and think about what to do next. It is difficult for me to continue working in Ufa now.
– I want to thank everyone who worked in the company. My big dream was to become the head coach of the big club when I started coaching.
According to Ufa boss Rinat Bashirov, the club made an offer to Lämsä, but after reflection, the Finnish coach refused to do so “because of the world situation”.
– We would have liked him to stay, Bashirov admitted.
Lämsä led Ufa to the second round of the playoffs this season.
