Tollhaus Tegel: How judicial officer Grit A. (54) inspired the cons

By Matthew Becker

Judicial officer Grit A. (54) and her fatal prison love Damian M. (38). She is said to have become a drug smuggler for him. Now the head of security at the JVA-Tegel testified about the accused woman – and reported on chats, free ice cream and erotic shows for the prisoner!

The merry life of prison grit in the Tegel madhouse! Security chief Rainer K. on the “breaches of duty” by the judicial officer – the embarrassing protocol:

► The prison management was aware of the “unprofessional closeness to the prisoners” early on and held “criticism talks” with Grit A. before she was arrested.

► Grit A. maintained close contact with at least four prisoners who were known by name. “They were welcome chat partners” of the judicial officer.

► The supervisor was able to prevent the “free ice cream” for the inmates that Grit A. wanted to bring with her in good time.

► Shortly before closing time, Grit A. “liked to pose in her sophisticated private clothes” without there being a need for it. Grit A. is said to have been happy about compliments, described superiors in a confidential report, which speaks of “masses” of prisoners – who pleased them with their appearance.

► There are said to have been 60 to 80 detainees to whom Grit A. had lost touch and presented herself in open and provocative clothing – in crop tops, mini skirts and fishnet stockings.

“The only thing missing was the champagne…”

The defender of Damian M., Mirko Röder (58), to the BZ: “In this description, only table dance and champagne were missing for everyone.”

The smuggling of mobile phones by Grit A., on the other hand, sees security chief Rainer K. as only a minor misconduct. She is an offence. Around 100 smuggled cellphones are discovered every year during checks. The peak was in the millennium year with 330 mobile phones. But precautions have now been taken against this. So far, only mobile phones that were in use have been detected by surveillance.

Now there are so-called “disk sniffer dogs” that sniff out metals and then strike them. The trial will resume on July 5.
