The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, instructed the government to introduce temporary state regulation of prices for socially significant products, as well as consider the need for a moratorium on increasing utilities for the population. About it it says in a statement following the meeting on the socio-economic situation in the country.

To socially significant products in Kazakhstan relate 19 products: flour, bread and pasta, salt, eggs, buckwheat, rice, sugar, sunflower and butter, beef and chicken, milk, kefir and cottage cheese, as well as some types of vegetables – potatoes, carrots, onions and cabbage

“Introduce state price regulation for socially significant food products <...> Consider the need to introduce a moratorium on increasing utility tariffs for the population for a period of 180 days,” – said in the list of presidential orders.

In addition, Tokayev instructed to consider the issue of subsidizing rents for secondary housing for socially vulnerable segments of the population and to create a public fund “People of Kazakhstan”, financed from private and public sources, to solve health problems and children.
