Tokayev dismissed his special representative at Baikonur

Serik Suleimenov, special envoy of the President of Kazakhstan to Baikonur, was relieved of his post, reported on the website of the head of state.

According to information Tengrinews, Suleimenov has held this position since April 2020. Before him, Bakhytzhan Namaev was a special representative.

In addition to the post of special representative, Suleimenov occupied the position of deputy akim (head) of the Kyzylorda region, on the territory of which the cosmodrome is located. He was responsible for construction, energy and housing and communal services, passenger transport and highways. Previously, he worked in the ministries of energy and labor, various electric grid companies, and a pension fund.

After the protests in Kazakhstan, which began after an increase in prices for liquefied gas and escalated into riots, President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev dismissed the government of the republic and made a number of other personnel decisions. In particular, three deputy heads were dismissed from the National Security Committee: Daulet Yergozhin, Marat Osipov and Samat Abish, the nephew of ex-president Nursultan Nazarbayev.
