The exceptional incident happened on Thursday in Bettiah, a city in the north of India near the border with Nepal. Two -year -old Govinda Kumar was playing there when a Cobra started wrapping around his hands. From reflex the toddler bit the cobra, with fatal outcome.

“When we saw the snake in the child’s hand, everyone hurried towards him,” the boy’s grandmother tells local media. “But at that time he had already bitten and killed the snake.” The boy then fainted and was rushed to the nearest hospital.

According to hospital director Duvakant Mishra, the boy was treated quickly and his life could be saved like this. The poison did not have enough time to work in, he told Indian Express. “The condition of the child is now stable.”

India has around 300 types of snakes, of which at least 60 are toxic.
