A striking deal: Talpa has entered into an agreement with the public NOS about broadcasting images of the Football World Cup. “Talpa will be given the right to broadcast summaries of all 104 matches on television and to use fragments in trusting formats such as Today Inside and De Oranjezomer,” the broadcaster said.

One clear goal

With this collaboration, NOS wants to show ‘that collaboration in a changing media landscape is possible to keep major events relevant and accessible’. “By combining public and commercial power, there is one clear goal: connecting as many people as possible in the Netherlands around the largest football event in the world.”

Xander van der Wulp, editor-in-chief NOS Sport, is satisfied. “We have previously indicated that we are open to public-private partnerships. We therefore offered the rights to live matches and all summaries through a tender last year. Discussions about this led to a partnership with Talpa.”

Strategy

Talpa boss Maarten Meijs is happy with the deal. “This is exactly what Talpa’s open network strategy stands for. By working together with the public broadcaster as a commercial media company, we not only increase our reach, but also the impact of the World Cup football in the Netherlands.”

The NOS will broadcast all 104 matches and the complete coverage of the World Cup. SBS 6 has double live broadcasts of Today Inside Oranje or De Oranjezomer every day. In addition, there is the daily Het Oranje Café, in which Sam van Royen discusses World Cup news with varying analysts. Summaries are also included here.
