Xavi Simons (20) caused quite a stir with his performances at PSV Eindhoven last season and was named “Player of the Season” in the Eredivisie by Transfermarkt users. More than 1.5 million TM users worldwide took part in the voting and in the Netherlands, 36.9 percent of the votes went to the newcomer from Leipzig, who was crowned top scorer in 2022/23 with 19 goals. His current teammate Benjamin Sesko (20) was also honored – for his appearances last year at Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.
Completing the podium on Simons’ left and right are Orkun Kökcü (22), who joined Benfica after a top season in the summer, and ex-Ajax captain Dusan Tadic (34). The latter also opted for a new challenge after last season and left Amsterdam after five years to join Fenerbahce.

Simons, on the other hand, has had the best season of his young career so far. In addition to 19 goals, he also contributed nine assists, which increased his market value from 4 to 40 million euros within twelve months. PSG then snapped and brought the midfield youngster back by clause before going on loan to RB. Simons found his way around quickly there too and has scored five in four appearances so far.
