TM Database: Bulgaria internationals complete – Berbatov top goalscorer

…better and better!

Another milestone has been added to the transfer market statistics. All 728 games of the national team of Bulgaria are now available in our database. Dimitar Berbatov was the most successful goalkeeper in the history of the “Lions”. The ex-striker, who scored 91 times for Bayer Leverkusen during his playing days, recorded 48 goals for his home country.

With 79 games played, the 41-year-old is just about among the top 10 record players in Bulgaria, led by Stiliyan Petrov with 105 appearances. With the former Stuttgart Krasimir Balakov (92) and the former Wolfsburg Martin Petrov (90), other former well-known faces can be found in the front places.

The Bulgarian side, whose best result was fourth place at the 1994 World Cup, has met Romania the most often (32 times). They also suffered the third highest defeat (0:7) against the neighboring country, it was only clearer with 0:9 in Hungary and 0:13 in Spain. The highest victory was also in double digits: in 1968 a 10-0 win was celebrated in Ghana.
