Tinus Deuring from Gasselternijveen was perplex when his prize -winning pigeons suddenly disappeared last week. But this morning he really got the shock of his life. He found his pigeons back, but not in the way he would like.

He was cleaning up the empty pigeon ride when he made a sad discovery. Above the pens of the pigeons was an empty space with shelves in front. “I break that first plank and I see all my pigeons,” says Tinus. “All dead.”

Twenty top pigeons from Tinus are dead in a row. The eggs that have been stolen from the nests are also included. “No burglary has been committed. The perpetrator is most likely a stone marten.”

Tinus suspects that the predator came in under the roof tiles. There he killed the pigeons and hid on top of the lofts. Most pigeons look intact in addition to a hole in the neck. There is only a paw left of a pigeon.
