The long-lost “Hot For You Baby” is the harbinger of an anniversary edition of PRIVATE DANCER.

Two months before the second anniversary of the “Queen of Rock’n’Roll’s” death, a deluxe edition of Tina Turner’s (November 26, 1939 – May 24, 2023) most successful album, PRIVATE DANCER, will be released on March 21st to mark its 40th anniversary . In addition to lavish bonus material, it also contains: “Hot For You Baby”, a rock song that was originally intended for the record’s tracklist, but was then discarded and was considered lost for decades. Turner’s vocal performance is stunning.

PRIVATE DANCER is Tina Turner’s fifth solo album. It was released on May 29, 1984. After turbulent, financially unproductive years following her divorce from her abusive husband and musical partner Ike Turner, the record shot Turner to the top of the world and made her a superstar for decades. Thanks to hits like “What’s Love Got to Do With It”, numerous covers of classics by the Beatles (“Help!”), Al Green (“Let’s Stay Together”), David Bowie (“1984”) and Ann Peebles (“I Can’t Stand The Rain”), as well as the title track written especially for Turner by Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits), the album sold more than twelve million copies.

The anniversary edition of the record offers an extensive selection of previously unreleased pieces, live versions and film material. The 5CD+Blu-ray set includes the newly revised, 55-minute “Private Dancer Tour Show,” recorded at the NEC Convention Center in Birmingham on March 23 and 24, 1985, and featuring guest appearances by Bryan Adams and David Bowie appears. The Bowie duet “Tonight” recorded here, actually a song by Bowie and Iggy Pop, was subsequently released as a single and reached number 1 in the Netherlands.
