Tina Nijkamp gets a sneer from Marc Dik, the well-known TV producer behind, among others, De Slimste Mens. He finds her hypocritical regarding Ferry Doedens. “A wonderful opinion,” he exclaims.
There is a lot of controversy about the Ferry Doedens documentary that will premiere after the weekend on Prime, Amazon’s streaming service. The taste came as a shock to many people: Ferry turns out not to be a recreational smoker, but a junkie. That boy doesn’t look good and even his mother has distanced herself.
Tina critical
Tina Nijkamp, former channel boss of SBS 6, thinks Ferry has fallen so low that she thinks Prime cannot broadcast this. “I saw that trailer and I actually think Prime Video should say: ‘We’re just not broadcasting this.’ Not only to protect Ferry himself, but also his loved ones and his family,” she says in the podcast Tina’s TV Update.
“Even if they say: ‘We don’t mind this’, I still think this is a limit. As a channel manager, I really wouldn’t dare to broadcast this, because I think it is too sensitive. I also had that in the past with documentaries like Meiden van de Keileweg and the like. I think you have to deal with this very carefully as a channel.”
Devastating
There is no valid excuse, Tina thinks. “People say, ‘Yes, but then you see how devastating drug addiction can be.’ But if you see that trailer… I would really leave it on the shelf. Hopefully Ferry will soon be better and then you can use these images as a retrospective or something. I’m in shock about that trailer.”
“I think that as a channel you have a moral responsibility about what you can and cannot broadcast. When you see the trailer, you as a channel have to think: we will leave this on the shelf for the time being.”
Hypocritical
The well-known TV producer Marc Dik, who makes De Slimste Mens, among other things, thinks Tina is hypocritical. He was already annoyed by the Chinese riot she provoked, but he also finds this ridiculous.
He sneers X: “In any case, more wonderful opinions from Tina at the moment. Based on the trailer, she believes that Amazon should not broadcast Ferry Doedens’ documentary to protect him. Channel director Tina sold raw, shameless insights at SBS such as Teenage Mothers and Problem Neighborhoods.”
