Dupont was the fastest in the sprint of a leading group of five riders on Saturday after a 38 kilometer race. He beat the Dutch Ramon Sinkeldam (last year’s winner) and Pepijn Veenings. Edward Planckaert and Jonas Rickaert, both from Alpecin-Deceuninck, finished fifth and sixth. Tim Declercq, Xandro Meurisse and Tom Dumoulin also started.

The 37-year-old Dupont is best known as a road racer, but as a resident of the coastal region he is also a specialist in beach racing. He previously won Egmond-Pier-Egmond in 2016 and 2019. On Belgian beaches, Dupont already achieved victories in De Panne and Bredene this winter season, and came third at the Belgian Championships after a puncture.
