Timothée Chalamet invested a fortune in his Oscar campaign. All details.

Timothée Chalamet has earned a regular subscription to an Oscar nomination with his performances in new films. The actor is now known for his large-scale press tours with which he shakes up awards season. With various sensational actions, he always positions himself to win the coveted prize. And it can happen that something is so important to him that he invests in it himself.

Oscar promo from your own pocket

Timothée Chalamet was in the running for the 2025 Oscars with his role as Bob Dylan in the film “A Complete Unknown”. Here too, he relied on a spectacular PR campaign to put himself in position for the trophy. On January 25, 2025, he appeared on the show “Saturday Night Live” and impressively performed some Bob Dylan songs. On the show he acted as both presenter and musical guest and played, among other things, “Outlaw Blues” and “Three Angels”.

At a Q&A in London recently, the 30-year-old said he was willing to invest his private money in his press campaigns. Now it’s clear: That was exactly the case with his “SNL” appearance.

The “Marty Supreme” actor negotiated with film producer Lorne Michaels, who also produces “SNL,” before his appearance. He had one condition for appearing on the show: “I said, ‘Yes, can I do the music?’ He was like, ‘No.’ I said, ‘Okay, then I won’t do it.’ He said, ‘Okay, then do the music,'” the actor said, according to Consequence.

Timothée Chalamet continued: “I spent six figures out of my own pocket for my appearance on SNL.” How this large sum came about in detail is not known. However, none of the songs performed in the show can be found in the film “A Complete Unknown”. The money probably went towards the rights to these pieces. Chalamet was also on stage with a full band, including James Blake on the keyboard. These actors may also have demanded a lavish fee.

Big press tour for “Marty Supreme”

This year, Timothée Chalamet enters the awards season with his portrayal of Marty Mauser in the film “Marty Supreme.” For this purpose, too, he carried out a large press tour with spectacular activities. Among other things, he was the first person ever to be seen on the roof of the Las Vegas Sphere. It is not yet known whether he invested his own money here.

Whether the effort was worth it this time and whether he succeeds in winning the Oscar for Best Actor will be seen on March 16, 2026, when the trophies will be awarded.
