Timothée Chalamet on the red carpet – dressed as Dylan!

Holistic metamorphosis: Even at the premiere of “A Complete Unknown,” leading actor Timothée Chalamet appeared in the “blonde look” of Bob Dylan, who was portrayed in the film. These were the reactions.

A detailed homage

The biopic of the American songwriter and Nobel Prize winner in literature celebrated its premiere in New York on Friday (December 13th). Of course, Dylan actor Timothée Chalamet also posed on the red carpet – and caused astonishment. Because he was dressed in the style of the early 2000s: blue wool hat, checked shirt, loosely knotted scarf. And the icing on the cake: the blonde fringes that fell over the 28-year-old’s eyes.

Even if it is irritating at first, this disguise is not a fashion mistake – it is a homage. Because Bob Dylan himself rocked this look when he appeared at the premiere of his film “Masked and Anonymous” at the Sundance Film Festival in 2003. With an obsession for detail, Chalamet brought the style back to its essence over 20 years later: he even left his mustache.

That’s what the fans think

The reactions online – divided. But the Dune star probably managed to pull off the surprise. “For a moment I thought this was a really good Photoshop retouch. I can’t believe this is real,” one user wrote on X.

Another jokes: “I didn’t know there was a male version of ‘The Substance’,” referring to the horror film of the same name about a not entirely safe rejuvenation serum.

Trending: “Method Dressing”

It’s not at all unusual for Hollywood stars to pay tribute to the film with themed outfits at premiere celebrations. For example, Halle Bailey with her costume for “The Little Mermaid” – or Jenna Ortega’s goth wardrobe for “Wednesday”. Margot Robbie in particular caused a stir with the so-called “method dressing” on the “Barbie” promotional tour. Then why not Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan?

The internet doesn’t really want to accept this yet: “That worked on ‘Barbie’! This doesn’t work for ‘A Complete Unknown’! The studios really don’t know how to sense the mood,” writes an angry user on X.

“A Complete Unknown” hits theaters in the US on December 25th. In this country we’ll have to be content with Bob Dylan imitations outside of the film for a little longer – the German version is scheduled to start on February 27, 2025.
