During the preparations for his legendary BOOS special on The Voice, Tim Hofman became a bit ‘paranoid’ due to Yvonne Coldeweijer’s reporting. “A mole in our midst?”
It is the highlight of Tim Hofman’s career so far: the famous special he made about the abuses at The Voice of Holland. There was a lot of pressure on his shoulders, especially in the week leading up to the broadcast, because all eyes were on him and his team. The speculation continued day in and day out.
Yvonne’s spy
Tim still remembers it well. “The juice channels made themselves heard. There was the Juice Channel at the time and they posted: ‘We have been confirmed that it is about coach Ali B’,” he says in a retrospective special of ANGRY.
“What was completely fascinating is that Yvonne Coldeweijer then posted: ‘I have received confirmation through high-ranking broadcast spies that this episode is about sexual abuse at The Voice of Holland regarding Ali B. The spy has seen the episode and states that we are going to be in shock.’”

However, the episode was not yet finished, Tim emphasizes. “No, not at all, but I do know that I thought: okay, do we have a mole in the building? Those juice channels were really big and powerful at that time. I think: is there anyone here?”
Yvonne’s information was correct. “Yes, that too. I thought: is there someone who is on speed dial with Yvonne and who walks here in the editorial office?”
Paranoid
In his own words, it made Tim slightly ‘paranoid’. “Yes, that was a bit like: how do the lines run again? I read my own story on juice channels, how is that possible?!”
“We tried to reach Yvonne for this broadcast, but we were unable to get in touch. I would have liked to ask her. It is not possible that someone had seen that broadcast, but that someone had seen images, that could be the case, but who was that and whether there was someone internally who was leaking things in? I don’t know.”
