Tilburg Trappers had to wait for five years, but on Sunday evening it took the title in the Oberliga Nord. The Tilburg ice hockey players convincingly won 2-7 from Herner EV Miners in Herne, Germany. With three games to go, the team can no longer be overtaken and so there was plenty of celebration celebrated by the selection and the 400 supporters.

Tilburg Trappers had a simple evening in Germany. Already after two minutes it took the lead and the score was already 0-5 after the second quarter. In the remainder of the competition, both teams scored twice more. In the stands, the Tilburg fans already made a festive mood.

The championship in the Oberliga Nord, one of the two classes on the third level of Germany, was the goal of the club management in advance. To achieve that again after five years, more than previous years were invested in the selection. In addition, more money went to the youth academy and the second team, which comes out in the Eredivisie.

Tilburg Trappers took the lead in the Oberliga Nord on December 8. That first place did not give it off. The championship is now inside and the play-offs will start from March. In it the best teams of the Oberliga Nord and Süd meet.

On Carnival Sunday, March 2, the team of Canadian coach Todd Warriner plays at home against the number eight of the other Oberliga. The return in Germany will follow on March 7. At the end of April it is known who will take the overall Oberliga title. In any case, promotion is not at stake, because they are not allowed further than the third German level from the German Association.
