Argentine Lisandro López converted an elegant goal in the 69th minute to give the Tijuana Xolos a 1-0 victory over the UNAM Pumas this Saturdayon the fourth day of the Mexican Clausura.
López put an end to numerous failures of the Xolos, among them a penalty missed twice by Argentine Facundo Ferreyra. Despite being a defender, the Argentine accepted a ball in the area and with a volley from his right leg decided the match.
The first time was attractive; Xolos dominated, but both teams had opportunities to open the scoring. In the last play of the initial 45 minutes, goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera saved a penalty from Ferreyra; the goalkeeper was ahead and in the repetition of the attacker he threw the ball out.
In 56 Ferreyra confirmed his terrible night and with everything in his favor he failed again, but Tijuana improved with the entry to the field of the Colombian Mauro Manotas and the Chilean Joaquín Montecinos and in 65 he signed his first win of the year.
With one win, one draw and two losses the Xolos rose to twelfth place, while Pumas appears fifth with two wins and one setback.
A while before the Uruguayan Abel Hernández converted a goal and provided an assist to lead the victory of San Luis, 2-3 over America, with goals from the Spaniard Unaí Bilbao, Hernández and the Argentine Germán Berterame, while for America the Colombian Roger Martínez and the Mexican Henry Martín discounted.
San Luis won its first meeting, after three defeats and appears in thirteenth place with three unitstwo more than America, placed sixteenth.
In the other duel this Saturday Pachuca’s Tuzos thrashed Necaxa 1-3 with annotations by the Ecuadorian Romario Ibarra, the Colombian Avilés Hurtado and the Argentine Nicolás Ibáñez. For the home team, the Uruguayan Facundo Batista discounted.
Pachuca rose to first place with nine pointsbut they can lose it, if between Saturday and Sunday Puebla, Cruz Azul or Atlas win their games.
This Sunday Querétaro will receive the leader Pueblathe champion Atlas to Santos Laguna and Tigres UANL to Mazatlán.
On Monday the Lion will receive the Cruz Azul.
The day will be left with a couple of games; Juarez FC will host Chivas de Guadalajara next Wednesday and Toluca to Monterrey, on April 6.
