Tiger King: Joe Exotic wants a divorce

Joe Exotic, best known for the Netflix documentary Tiger King, has filed for divorce a year after splitting from his former partner Dillon Passage. His attorney, Autumn Beck Blackledge, confirmed this to People magazine.

The two went through life together for a little over three years: the gay couple got married in December 2017, and they announced their separation in March 2021 – by then Exotic was already behind bars for having been commissioned to kill.

A New Love for the Tiger King

The fact that so much time passed before the former zoo operator filed for divorce in Santa Rosa County in Florida is probably due to a faux pas Exotics: The 59-year-old failed to deliver the document “to his husband and to pursue the divorce through legal channels obtain,” announced his defense attorney.

In addition, the convicted criminal had repeatedly tried unsuccessfully to contact his former groom. Now he hopes that “both of them can move on with their lives and divorce quickly and amicably,” said Blackledge. Apparently, her client was happy with a new man at just the right time: “Joe is about to finish his cancer treatment and has fallen in love. He has no grudges against Dillon but has been trying to reach him for a divorce settlement for some time.”

Maintenance from the murder boy

From the mouth of his ex’s manager, the story sounds a little different: Passage is also happy that the divorce is over. Previously, his lawyers had drawn up the necessary paperwork on various occasions, which Exotic at first did not sign and then ignored.

Be that as it may, according to court documents, Maldonado-Passage has called the marriage “irretrievably broken” — and is seeking alimony as part of the divorce from the man he once loved — the man recently sentenced to 22 years in prison for contract killing was convicted.

“We still get along well”

After all, Passage addressed conciliatory words to his ex-husband in an Instagram post: “To answer the most important question the public wants to know: Yes, Joe and I want to divorce. It wasn’t an easy decision, but Joe and I both understand that this situation isn’t fair for either of us.” We still get along well and I hope it stays that way. I will continue to have Joe in my life and will do my best to support him as he fights further legal battles to improve his situation.”
