CROSS RIDING – It seems to be a certainty. Week after week, Eeldenaar Tibor Del Grosso (21) solos to victory in the World Cup with the under-23s. The Alpecin-Deceuninck rider stayed ahead of Belgian Yordi Corsus and Frenchman Aubin Sparfel in Besançon on French soil.

It is the third World Cup victory in a row for Del Grosso. He previously won in Hulst and Zonhoven. Before that he also won the X20 bathroom cross in Herentals. Today he managed to win again by force majeure. After 55 minutes he came in. About 15 seconds ahead of number two Corsus.

Del Grosso has also proven himself among the elite riders this season. On Boxing Day he finished seventh in the Gavere World Cup race. In a sprint he just managed to keep the British Cameron Mason behind him. What Del Grosso does with the under-23s, his teammate Mathieu van der Poel does with the elite. He won that match by force majeure.
