Tibet hit by a massive 7.1 earthquake that was felt as far away as Kathmandu

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 struck Shigatse, Tibet’s second largest city, on Tuesday morning. This was reported by the American Seismological Institute (USGS). Eight more quakes followed, six of which occurred within an hour of the first. Tibet is an autonomous region in southern China on the border with Nepal. The AFP news agency reports, based on Chinese state media, that at least nine people have already died in the earthquake.
