The German handball record champion THW Kiel has returned to the top of the table in the Bundesliga with a very strong performance.
The Kiel team won the northern derby against HSV Hamburg with an impressive offensive performance 40:28 (21:14) and took first place again from the Rhein-Neckar Löwen with 12:0 points.
The Löwen, who also have an impeccable record after six games, had already won 27:26 at Bergisches HC on Thursday. Füchse Berlin (11:1) climbed to third place on Sunday with a 32:29 (12:15) at MT Melsungen.
On Saturday, champion SC Magdeburg dropped the first points with a 34:35 (13:17) in a gripping top game against SG Flensburg-Handewitt. The SCM (10:2) is now fourth.
Flensburg (9:3), who won through a goal by Mads Mensah Larsen in the last few seconds, are in fifth place.
In Kiel, the hosts were in a goal mood from the start, defensive negligence was not important. Of Kiel’s eleven goalscorers, the Norwegian Harald Reinkind was the most successful with seven goals.
The foxes, who averted their first defeat of the season with a strong final phase in Melsungen, scored ten times from the Danish veteran Hans Lindberg.
