Thurston Moore has to cancel book tour for health reasons

His health problems had “become quite debilitating,” said the musician.

Sonic Youth co-founder Thurston Moore has announced that he has to cancel his upcoming book tour in the USA. The reason is his health condition, which has developed into a “debilitating” problem over the years. The tour was to promote “Sonic Life,” his memoir.

Moore announced this to his fans on social media on Tuesday (October 10). His posts read: “I am very sorry to have to break the news that I have been advised by my medical team here in the UK to cancel my upcoming US book tour. I have been struggling with a long-term health condition for years, but it has never seriously stopped me from touring and recording.”

The musician continues: “Regardless, it has always been an underlying problem and as I enter my mid-60s this year it has become quite debilitating. After a recent consultation, my doctors strongly advised me not to fly under any circumstances until they got the problem under control.”

Moore also confirms that the money for the tickets will be refunded. The tour was scheduled to begin October 24th in Jersey City and conclude October 4th in San Francisco. Furthermore, the guitarist and singer wants to catch up on the tour as soon as he is able again. “I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I can make amends when I’m able to travel again,” says Moore.
