Thurston Moore and Snail Mail cover Lou Reed for Fender video

As part of the Vintera II “Best of the Decades” series, they represent the 70s with a retro-style clip.

In the past, a number of musicians have teamed up to cover songs for Fender’s YouTube series “Vintera II”. In the latest video, Snail Mail and Thurston Moore perform “Satellite of Love” by Lou Reed together.

The “Vintera IIs” are among Fender’s oldest and best-known guitar models. They are true to the original Classics and cult models from the 50s, 60s and 70s. So it’s no surprise that the company has based an entire YouTube series after her. In the “Best of the Decades” subcategory, musicians represent a decade in music history with a cover song, always using “Vintera II” guitars, of course.

“Satellite Of Love”

The 70s now introduced Snail Mail together with former Sonic Youths guitarist Thurston Moore and covered Lou Reed’s song “Satellite Of Love”. Among their instruments were a Vintera II 60s Stratocaster and a Vintera II 70s Jaguar. There are also covers from the 50s and 60s on Fender’s YouTube channel, of course with the matching “Vintera II” models. In addition to the guitars, the style of the videos was also adapted to that of the decades in order to convey the flair of the time.

50s and 60s

The 1950s were portrayed by Madison Cunningham and Wendy Melvoin with the song “I Only Have Eyes for You” by the Flamingos. They played the song on the “Vintera II 50s Jazzmaster” and the “Vintera II 50s Nocaster”. On the “Vintera II 60s Telecaster” Josh Klinghoffer and Nick Reinhart covered the Beatles hit “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)”. All videos of the “Fender Vintera II” series are available here to see.
