In a thrilling final race in 2024, the British racing team perfected their longed-for title. The Grand Prix begins with a moment of shock.
McLaren is the constructors’ world champion in 2024. The British racing team secured the title with Lando Norris’ victory in the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi with a total of 666 points ahead of Ferrari (652). And the Grand Prix on Sunday became a thriller between the two racing teams: Norris won ahead of the two Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, both of whom would have had to finish ahead of Norris in order to still win the constructors’ title for the traditional Italian racing team.
Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri ended up tenth, but a contact with world champion Max Verstappen shortly after the start threw the Australian back early and made the title fight even more exciting. Verstappen ended up sixth, while Lewis Hamilton finished fourth in his last race for Mercedes. The German Nico Hülkenberg achieved another respectable eighth place for Haas at the end of the season.
