Recap: What is it about?

The cult film was shot in 1973 in the GDR and the Czech Republic and is about the orphan Cinderella, who lives with her evil stepmother and stepsisters and is treated like a maid by them. A coachman finally gives Cinderella a branch with three hazelnuts, each of which is supposed to grant her one wish.

After her stepmother forbids her from attending a beautiful prince’s ball, Cinderella manages to appear anyway with the help of the hazelnuts and wins his heart. But it won’t be easy after that…

When can you see the classic?

“Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella” is traditionally shown on public broadcasters. The two most important dates are probably December 24th, the day of Christmas Eve. The film is shown here at 12:50 p.m. on ARD and in prime time at 8:15 p.m. on WDR. The film can also be seen on both previous Advent weekends. On December 14th the film will be shown on MDR at 5:25 p.m. and on December 21st the classic can be seen on HR at 12:15 p.m.

If you miss the two seasons on Christmas Eve, you still have the opportunity to see the film on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. On December 25th, the Czech film can be seen on ARD at 3:25 p.m. and on ONE at 6:50 p.m. On December 26th it will be shown on MDR at 3:00 p.m. and then on RBB at 4:30 p.m.
