For Arminia it was the first league success in six months. In mid-February, the club had won against 1. FC Union Berlin when Bielefeld was still a first division team. This was followed by 16 games across the league without a win – and in between there was relegation.

Three goals in nine minutes

The first two goals for Bielefeld came from standard situations. After a corner by Bastian Oczipka, Lasme initially prevailed against several opponents and scored the lead with a header.

Seven minutes later, Bielefeld briefly took a corner. Robin Hack’s cross was good – and what followed was strange. First Lasme headed against the crossbar, from there the ball came to Hüsing, who failed at Braunschweig keeper Jasmin Fejzic. Once, twice – and then the ball was in there.

The preliminary decision was then made, so Oczipka crossed nicely to the second post. Hack finished there with a fine volley.

Eintracht only hopes for a short time

After a good hour, Braunschweig shortened through Pherai – and this goal was also a curious one. Pherai took a corner from the left in front of goal, Lasme went for a header and then pulled away. Bielefeld’s goalkeeper Martin Fraisl got a hand on the ball, but he couldn’t fend it off.

The final decision was made by Okugawa after a pass from Sebastian Vasiliadis, who ran alone towards the goal and goalkeeper Fejzic tunnelled.

Braunschweig welcomes Nuremberg

Eintracht Braunschweig welcomes 1. FC Nürnberg on Matchday 7 (September 2nd, 2022, 6:30 p.m.). Arminia Bielefeld has to go to Darmstadt two days later at 1.30 p.m.
