Every year, the Boujamaoui family, a family with four children, spends the month of July with their relatives in Morocco. This Wednesday the whole family decided to go on an excursion to Fint Oasis in the heart of the Atlas Mountains, where several Hollywood films such as Babel, Prince of Persia and Kingdom of Heaven were filmed. That’s where disaster struck for the first time.

Things went awry when the family went swimming in the lake. A cousin disappeared under water and drowned. Despite the intervention of the emergency services, he could not be saved. His body was taken to Sidi H’ssine Bennacer Hospital.

The car containing the three youngest children of the Boujamaoui family, driven by an uncle of the children, was involved in an accident. 13-year-old Youssef, his brother Yassin (almost 5) and his 15-year-old sister Ibtissam died instantly, as did two cousins ​​of the family. An aunt who was in the car with them died Friday in hospital from her injuries.

According to SudInfo, no other cars were involved in the accident. The uncle who was driving the car is said to have been crying at the wheel, deeply saddened by the previous drowning death of the family’s cousin. It is possible that the man became unwell, and as a result he lost control of his car at an exit.

Brahim, the father of the family from Liège, was traveling with the body of the deceased cousin at the time of the accident, the mother and older sister of the boys were not on the trip.

In Liège, many people are shocked by the Moroccan tragedy. The young Youssef played football at RFC Liège, and his coaches and teammates are all devastated by the news. “Youssef has been playing for RFC for 6 to 7 years. He has always played for this club. He was a very good player with exemplary behavior. He was always present and had many sporting qualities. He was also included in the Liège squad and had already received offers from elite clubs. We tried to keep the team intact from year to year to create cohesion and today we realize that the young people had forged real bonds of friendship. The players who played alongside Youssef are very upset,” said Frédéric Debougnoux, youth coordinator at RFC Liège.
