Threat confrontation hooligans: fan zone and safety measures at AZ match

Extra safety measures apply around the home match AZ – Apollon Limassol in the Alkmaar stadium tonight. This includes preventive frisking, cameras and there is a fan zone for the Apollon supporters, to separate supporters from the clubs. In addition, a number of AZ fans have a stadium ban.

“They are known for also using fireworks and not shying away from a confrontation with supporters of the opponent,” says the mayor of Alkmaar. Measures have been taken to separate AZ supporters and people from Apollon Limassol as much as possible.

Fan zone with gyros

A fan zone has been set up on the Paardenmarkt where Apollon fans can stay before the match: in the tent where the Alkmaar Relief celebration will be held tomorrow and Saturday. “We were already preparing for 7 and 8 October, so we were able to act quickly when the municipality asked us to receive the 1000 to 1500 football supporters,” says Jefrem Groot, co-organizer of the events.

From noon, the Cypriot supporters are taken to the large white tent. there spinning deejays and is also a gyros corner decorated – the club is from the Greek part of Cyprus. “We also have many security guards and the police are ready. AZ supporters are not welcome.”

The police may carry out preventive searches, there are extra officers and camera surveillance. This applies from today 9am to tomorrow 3am.
