Motorists who drove into the Van Berckelstraat in Den Bosch between 19 May and 3 July and received a fine for that will receive their money back. According to the municipality, the fines, almost four thousand, are unjustified. The traffic signs were not clear enough.

The Van Berckelstraat is a bicycle street. There applies from, among other things, the Zuid-Willemsvaart an entry ban for cars. The signs that warn about this were not clearly visible for road users. A temporary sign was set for the regular signs. Motorists can therefore rightly say that they were not aware of the traffic situation, writes DTV News.

A total of 3888 fines were handed out to people who entered the bicycle street. In June, almost two thousand fines were even issued in one week. In consultation with the judiciary, the municipality has decided to withdraw the fines imposed.

People who have already paid the fine will receive their money back from the Central Judicial Collection Agency (CJIB) in the short term. People who still have to pay and people who have objected are also taken into account.
