Thomas van Groningen has encountered the infamous reality star Monique Hansler in real life. They even chatted with each other in the corridors of Talpa. “A very sweet woman.”

Anna Nooshin, Bas Smit, Gordon, Halina Reijn, Sylvie Meis, etc.: the list of celebrities who are not particularly popular with the general public is long, very long. Yet it is Monique Hansler who is currently by far the most hated celebrity of our country. That is of course not very strange, because she exhibits truly horrible behavior in her reality series The Hanslers.

Terrible person

TV critic Victor Vlam is following it closely and can only draw one conclusion. “He’s a terrible person,” he says at the table The Orange Winter. “That is a fact.”

“When I watch that, I think to myself: this woman was probably once a super attractive girl who always got her way, and that’s why no one ever said no to her.”

Very sweet woman

Thomas van Groningen then reveals that he has been chatting with Monique. “She was recently here in Hilversum at Shownieuws and I bumped into her in the hallway. A very sweet woman actually.”

So very different from what you see on TV? No, says Thomas. “She is exactly like she is on TV. I think that’s crazy. That you know someone from reality… You come across very bad on TV, but she is just herself.”

Super sweet

Table guest Sander de Kramer states that meeting someone fleetingly is something completely different from having someone as your mother-in-law. “She’s super sweet until she’s your monster-in-law!”

Thomas concludes: “I thought: in such a reality program there is editing and cutting and then you come out very badly, but I bumped into her in the hallway and then I thought: actually you are not such a terrible person at all.”
