Thomas Tuchel suddenly hot again for Erling Haaland?

Recently it had become quiet about an alleged interest of Chelsea in striker Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. A violent quarrel between team manager Thomas Tuchel and star striker Romelu Lukaku could now fundamentally change the situation around the courted BVB professional.

Hardly anyone believes that Erling Haaland will tie his football boots for BVB beyond the summer. The speculation about a change of the 21-year-old Norwegian has been too intense in the last few weeks and months.

Haaland’s release clause is too tempting, allegedly allowing him a transfer for a comparatively low transfer fee of between 75 and 90 million.

Most recently, the hottest track in the Haaland case seemed to lead to Spain. Real Madrid and FC Barcelona were repeatedly traded as possible buyers. Barca President Joan Laporta fueled the rumor mill on Monday with spicy statements about a possible Haaland transfer.

Erling Haaland from BVB to Chelsea?

But Haaland is apparently still very popular in England too. “Image” speculated that after the developments of the last few days, Chelsea could again try harder to get the BVB attacker.

The background is the escalated conflict between team manager Thomas Tuchel and his regular striker Romelo Lukaku. The Belgian recently shot himself out with statements at “Sky Italia” about what he saw as the low operating times (“I’m just not happy with the situation”). In the top game against Liverpool on Sunday (2-2), Tuchel deleted the 28-year-old from the squad.

“It got too big and caused too much unrest, and so shortly before the game. That’s why I decided to protect the preparation for the game, and that’s why he’s out,” said the former BVB coach, explaining his tough, but consistent decision.

BVB: Erling Haaland “a fantastic player” according to Thomas Tuchel

In England there was even speculation about a winter change for Lukakus, even if this scenario should be off the table for the time being after a discussion between the two bartenders on Monday.

It is unclear whether Lukaku has a medium- and long-term future at Stamford Bridge under Tuchel.

Tuchel himself admitted to “Sport Bild” in the autumn that Haaland is “regularly” spoken of at Chelsea, “because he is a fantastic player”. It is also clear that blues owner Roman Abramovich could afford both the transfer fee for the Dortmund player and his exorbitant salary claims.
