The Hahnenkamm race is one of the highlights in the alpine ski duct. Therefore, two German soccer world champions did not want to miss the classic.
Thomas Müller and Bastian Schweinsteiger visited the men’s slalom races in Kitzbühel this Sunday. The two world football champions watched how Linus Straßer became fifth and narrowly missed the podium.
In the first round, rain and difficult visibility had demanded everything from the drivers. The football sizes and world champions from 2014, Schweinsteiger and Müller, were feverish in the stands alongside ex-Skistar Felix Neureuther.
“We don’t let the fun spoil,” said Müller one day after his Bundesliga victory with FC Bayern Munich at SC Freiburg (2-1) with a view to the cloudy weather in Tyrol. The good-humored men, who in the meantime took a seat in the leader box, also caught the TV cameras.
Neureuther grabbed Schweinsteiger’s arm and said: “You have to do that!” What he wanted to see was a jubilee pose, as if Schweinsteiger was the first to ski. However, the ex-footballer did not get the victory, he went to Clement Noel. He celebrated his fourth win of the season and gave the French team a conciliatory end of the weekend, which had started so bitterly with the many falls in the Super-G.
