Thomas Müller continues his big football career in North America. The long-time professional of FC Bayern moves to Canada to the Vancouver Whitecaps, as the club from the Major League Soccer and the 35-year-old announced.
“It’s Done. Let’s Go, Whitecaps” wrote Müller on Wednesday evening on Instagram and posted a video of himself when opening and unpacking a package. Contents: a Whitecaps jersey and a contract.
The club from British Columbia also welcomed its newcomer with warm words: “A legend has arrived. The German interpreter is here. Welcome, Thomas Müller,” Vancouver posted the 35-year-old at the same time.
In the video, Müller also directly presents his “new” number with the Canadians. He holds the back of the jersey in the camera and shows: It is his traditional number 13. For which he has also become famous for the German record champions.
According to the club, Müller signs a contract for the rest of the 2025 plus option played in the calendar year for 2026. Since league competitor FC Cincinnati had originally secured the privilege of a miller obligation, the club will be compensated with the equivalent of almost 260,000 euros, plus an optional additional 85,000 euros.
“I look forward to coming to Vancouver to help this team win a championship,” Müller is quoted in the statement of the club. “I have heard great things about the city, but first of all I am here to win.
