This week in 1845: British inventor patents the rubber band, which also found its way into the record player

177 years old and not yet endured. Thursday 17 March it was already 177 years ago that British inventor Stephen Perry obtained a patent for the rubber band. We all know that it is useful for keeping all kinds of things together, but the rubber band also had a major industrial application: in a record player.
