Cheese bites seem to have a special effect on some Finns.
Taffeli’s cheese crunch turned 40 this week. In honor of the celebration, Taffel asked Finns to reveal their strangest cheese-crunching habits, according to the release.
– The cheese crackers stories sent to us by Finns shine with passion, creativity and humor, says the person responsible for the Taffel brand at Orkla in Finland Emmi Jyly in the bulletin.
From the answers received by Taffeli, three cheese-crunching phenomena that Finns love are evident.
1. Squealing
Cracks “heal” when they get adequate air and moisture.
Unique methods have been invented to speed up the rustling process. Respondents say, for example, the following:
– I’m going to iron out the creases with a clothes steamer.
– A colleague spreads the crackers on a baking sheet and sprays them with a spray bottle to get them a little wet.
– Take the bag with you to the bathroom, where the warm steam wraps the crunches in its embrace.
Other crackling tricks include, for example, leaving cheese curds under a humidifier, putting an open bag in the refrigerator for a few days, and storing the cheese curds bag on top of the oven for 2–3 days.
Snoring has many names. The release states that it is also referred to as leathering, browning, rustling and oxidation.

2. Dips and side dishes
Strange combinations have become their own art form. You can even summarize that the weirder, the tastier.
Cheesecake fans have developed wild and downright strange flavor combinations.
– I love cheese nibbles and I do dip them in pea soup too.
– Cheese wedges and salmiakki. That’s the combination.
– I buy chocolate pudding for the fridge… and dip the nibbles into ice-cold pudding.
Other combinations include, for example, enjoying cheese nibbles dipped in kinuski ice cream, with bread cheese and crushed in spinach soup.
3. Tools
Respondents share their tricks, which help them to nibble on cheese nibs neatly. For example, tweezers, rubber gloves or 3D printed pliers keep your fingers clean.
– The boyfriend 3D printed separate chip tongs so that I can eat cheese nibbles with clean fingers.
– I enjoy these either with a doctor’s tweezers or with real chopsticks from a Chinese restaurant.
– We always eat with a golden fork here.
Other equipment for enjoying the cheese nibbles with clean fingers are, for example, sugar tongs from 1910, long-handled rubber gloves and, romantically, chopsticks for both.
