The editors of indebuurt Zoetermeer received several emails from Zoetermeer residents asking what the cordon and warning signs are for. Indebuurt went to investigate.
A bit crooked
According to a spokesperson for the municipality, the frame wall at the houses on Okanhout is giving way. This threatens to cause trees to fall and the municipality has cordoned off this area as a precaution. In consultation with the residents, the municipality engages an investigation agency to see what is going on and what needs to be done about it.

Different fence
In the Okanhout street, the editors of indebuurt met a local resident: “The owners of these homes discovered large gaps between the fence and the stone shed at the back of the garden. The storage area is part of the quay wall. If you look diagonally along the quay wall from the bridge, you will see that the wall is slightly convex and leans slightly forward.”

The residents are now waiting for a result from the investigation agency. Then the question is what will happen next. “The builder of these homes from 1995 is bankrupt, so we cannot recover any costs from them,” says the local resident. “This problem now only affects these eleven drive-in homes. But there are more of these types of houses in this neighborhood. We’ll wait and see.”
