“The rules for taking German fireworks are too strict,” was the statement on the online channels of RTV Drenthe. A majority of participants (57 percent) disagree.

It is no secret that many fireworks enthusiasts buy their fireworks across national borders. But there are rules attached to buying fireworks in Germany. For example, you are not allowed to take more than 25 kilos of fireworks with you in your car and they must comply with Dutch laws and regulations.

In practice, this means that many of the fireworks that are sold in supermarkets in Germany are actually not allowed to be brought to the Netherlands at all.

However, a relaxation of regulations in the Netherlands is not necessary, according to a majority of the almost 4,800 voters.
