What we know now
“Harry Potter” stands for dozens of people for childhood and nostalgia. Many not only think of the seven books, but also of the eight films that appeared in the 2000s and early 2010s. The new HBO series sees itself as a faithful adaptation of the seven volumes comprehensive “Harry Potter” series-written by JK Rowling, which is also involved as an executive producer this time.
Now Warner Bros., the film studio, which produces the series, announced in a press statement that the shooting began. To do this, they published a first photo of the Mimen Dominic McLaughlin, which will embody Harry Potter. Only his face and a little upper body can be seen in the picture. The similarity to Daniel Radcliffes Harry Potter in the films is in any case.

A schedule was also presented: Although the “Harry Potter” series is to be produced for about ten years, the first season is to celebrate at HBO premiere in 2027. HBO Max will stream the series in all countries in which the service is available – including in Germany, Great Britain and Italy.
New faces for known roles
The line -up of the three main characters was announced in May 2025: Ronald Weasley is played by Alastair Stout, Hermine Granger from Arabella Stanton. Now the actors were also opened – including Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom and Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley. Both, like many others in the cast, are previously rather unknown in the film and series industry.
The more prominent newcomers include John Lithgow (known from “The Crown” and “Dexter”) as Professor Albus Dumbledore and Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall.
The line-up of Severus Snape: Paapa Essiedu was hired for the part for the part-a POC actor. While many fans welcome his line -up, some LS feel inappropriate for the role. However, the boundaries between factual criticism and racist statements often blur.
