This is what ex-DTM champion Maximilian Götz is planning after his departure

Maximilian Götz’s schedule for the year after leaving the DTM is set: in which series the ex-champion will be driving in the 2023 season and which events are planned.

After the DTM retirement, Maximilian Götz’s program for the 2023 season is set: this season, the 2021 DTM champion will compete not only in the long-distance series of the GT World Challenge Europe but also in the GT World Challenge Asia, which will start the season next weekend in Buriram, Thailand.

“I’m happy to be racing in Asia all season with my new old team Craft-Bamboo-Racing and with my buddy Jeffrey Lee,” said Götz on Instagram about the return to the team, with which he competed in Asia in 2019. “Great tracks and a great experience await me.”

In the Asian SRO offshoot series, Götz also drives in Fuji, Suzuka, Motegi, Okayama and Sepang and meets his previous DTM rivals Dennis Olsen, who drives the R&B Porsche, and fellow Mercedes works driver Luca Stolz, who drives for the Triple Eight team.

Former DTM champion Götz on Asia: “The championship is growing”

Apart from that, there are other well-known names at the start with Porsche driver Patrick Pilet and the BMW works drivers Jesse Krohn and Jens Klingmann. “The championship is growing and there are a few well-known names, so it will be very competitive,” says Götz, who at least says wins are the target.

“With my expertise, I’ll try to help Jeffrey and the team improve to get as many points as possible so we can go for the championship. My goal is always to win, no matter what championship I’m in race and I want to be on the podium as often as possible.”

While Götz is starting in the long-distance series of the GT World Challenge Europe this year for the French Akkodis ASP team (formerly AKKA ASP) together with the Italian Lorenzo Ferrari and the French Thomas Drouet in the pro class, the planned has Engagement in the 24 Hours of Le Mans smashed.

Former DTM champion Götz wants victory in 24-hour classic on the Nordschleife

The original plan was for Götz to compete in the hypercar class with Glickenhaus and bring sponsor BWT with him, but James Glickenhaus recently made it clear that nothing will come of it. A start in the British GT Championship, which was originally planned, did not materialize either.

In 2023, Götz will still be used for isolated long-distance highlights: the 24 hours on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife and the NLS preparatory races have been a fixture in the routine driver’s program for years.

This year, too, Götz wants to fight for victory in the classic in the “Green Hell” with the GetSpeed team and team partners Fabian Schiller and Adam Christodoulou after podium finishes in the past two years.

There are also the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, which are part of the GT World Challenge Europe programme, and selected classics such as the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Bathurst, which Götz has already completed.
