To Arévalo and Kalimuendo

“As far as the search for strikers is concerned, we are not in acute pressure to act,” said VfB Stuttgart’s sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth recently. Nevertheless, an improvement in the winter seems likely, as more and more attackers are associated with the Swabians. After Jeremy Arévalo and Arnaud Kalimuendo, who are apparently also interested in financially strong clubs from the Champions League, the “Bild” and the “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” name five other candidates. However, there are currently no concrete negotiations with any player.
Thijs Dallinga from FC Bologna, Promise David from Union Saint-Gilloise, Romeo Vermant from Club Bruges, son of former Schalke player Sven Vermant, Rafiu Durosinmi from Viktoria Pilsen and William Osula from Newcastle United are also on VfB’s list. Osula has the highest market value of this group at 15 million euros – who is behind ex-Stuttgart Nick Woltemade in the Magpies’ striker ranking – and Durosinmi has the lowest at 6.5 million euros.

Durosinmi, whose contract is the only one from this selection to expire at the end of the season, was about to move to Eintracht Frankfurt almost a year ago before problems apparently arose during the medical check. Osula could take the step to SGE this winter. According to “Bild”, there is currently little chance of a transfer in Stuttgart, as the Hessians are said to be ahead when it comes to the 22-year-old Dane.

David is a regular at his club and has scored seven goals in 18 appearances so far. In the latest market value update in the Jupiler Pro League, the Canadian recorded his eighth plus in a row and is now valued at 13 million euros, making him the highest valued professional at Union SG. A transfer in this area should not exceed the financial framework for a purchase from VfB.
VfB Stuttgart doesn’t want to look at their cards when looking for a striker
“It is certainly an option that we can work here in the winter,” confirmed Wohlgemuth recently when asked about the search for a striker. Even if, as mentioned, he didn’t want to let anyone look at his cards so as not to drive up prices. Potential negotiating partners are aware that VfB currently has a transfer plus of 63.65 million euros following the last-minute sale of Woltemade in the summer for 75 million euros.
The Swabians’ original plan was to bring in a striker in the summer, but the transfer of Hyeon-gyu Oh from KRC Genk fell through on deadline day after problems arose during the medical check.
