‘This is very annoying’

Özcan Akyol is not happy that Wilfred Genee is playing a driving role in the discussion about the knife in the back of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. “I have the impression that he finds it annoying.”

It is incredible what Özcan Akyol has set in motion with his claim that a violent video of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk is circulating. Together with some other things, this led him to stab the presenter in the back and more or less cancel their friendship in front of the nation. A backstabber, say critics.

Eus berates Wilfred

Wilfred Genee played a catalytic role in the discussion about Matthijs’ alleged howler video, which in reality turned out to be a very innocent video. “Do you ever hesitate to tackle Eus a little harder or a little softer? It’s also your boy. Part of the success,” asks RTL Boulevardreporter Lex Express him.

Wilfred then answers: “No, because I have the impression that he finds it annoying how I have been doing in recent weeks, but I also said in yesterday’s conversation on the telephone: ‘But I have to just do my job.’”

Softer feelings

Wilfred has no intention of sparing Eus. “He is part of the team every now and then, but he will also tell the story at Humberto, so I have to reflect on that in our program. I never have any – and I’m not really known for that, I think – softer feelings about suddenly thinking that I can’t do that.”

Özcan now angrily points to the show media that they would blow everything up, but Wilfred doesn’t like that. “Eus of course has an opinion about everything and everyone, now he has made a small slip and now he has to deal with it himself. Yes, that’s how it works. I have experienced that so many times in my career.”

‘It is obvious’

Many people cannot believe that Eus betrayed his ex-bestie Matthijs in such a way because of a relatively innocent video. “If this is what Eus is made of, so to speak, then that is striking,” says Bart Ettekoven in Shownieuws.

Colleague Evert Santegoeds: “He now calls it fuss about a video. He brought that into the world himself!”

Bart: “Exactly. We as showbiz media have done it all.”

And Rob Goossens also feels addressed. “It’s our fault again!” he shouts in RTL Boulevard.

Galloped

All in all, Eus was a bit stupid, Wilfred thinks. “I think Eus should not have told Humberto about that video and should have said now: ‘I messed up, this is not very useful for me.’”

Does anyone else have a tip for Özcan? Yes, Jochem van Gelder. He quits X: “Would Ozcan Akyol know the expression ‘rub in a stain’? 🫢”
