“This is unexpected”: Alec Segaert happy with silver at BK Time Trials
Segaert recently won the time trial in the Giro Next Gen. “But that is not yet a reference for a national title fight, with names such as Wout van Aert, Remco Evenepoel, Rune Herregodts, Ilan Van Wilder and Cian Uijtdebroeks on the list of participants,” says Alec Segaert.
“Of course I started with ambition. I wanted to go for a place in the top five, but now see me standing here with that silver medal.” After Remco Evenepoel’s slider, one competitor was quickly eliminated. “In my wildest dreams I would have finished third here, after Van Aert and Evenepoel. It was also the first time trial I rode over such a long distance.”

“In every street there were fans who chanted my name. That was nice, but I was not allowed to overreach, not to get too enthusiastic. Only at the end did I experience some decline, this second place is really unexpected.”
