The Tuomaa market in Helsinki has more delicious dishes for sale.

The porridges at Helsinki’s Tuomaa market make headlines and make noise every year, but this year the market has a completely new type of bowl food that can be eaten with a spoon. It’s either a berry or an apple crumble cup.

The crumble sold at the stall of Ekberg, the oldest bakery and cafe in Finland, is known to be a novelty in Finland, although it is not exactly a new phenomenon. For example, there is a chain in Great Britain that only sells different crumble portions.

– We wanted to use the same things that we put in breads. Jams, custard, crumb dough and meringue, says Ekberg’s operations manager Saila Vuori.

Crumble is eaten with a spoon and served from a bowl like porridge.

– This is a bit like porridge, but we didn’t want to make porridge. There is already a lot of porridge on the Tuomaa market, Vuori laughs.

The apple crumble is decorated with gingerbread crumbs, gingerbread and a dried apple slice. ATTE KAJOVA
