Sanna Pyykönen and Maaria “Maatu” Anttoora created wonderful handicrafts under the name Kaksosflikat. Many have already come across the duo’s gaudy Käärijä sweater on social media. So far, the picture of the sweater has collected more than 6,000 likes and almost 400 comments on Instagram.

The twins have been die-hard Wives fans since childhood. They also love crafts, so the wisdom theme has naturally found its way into the craft hobby as well.

This year, the inspiration came from the flashy outfit of Finland’s Eurovision representative Käärijä, real name Jere Pöyhönen. Especially the green leather bolero.

“The feedback has been absolutely wonderful”

The twins were born in about a week.

– It took about a week from the birth of the idea to the finished sweater. The perfect yarn was found quickly, but a suitable model took a few experiments.

The interest in the wrap sweater surprised Sanna and Maaria, but only in a positive way.

– There has been a lot of interest. The feedback has been wonderful, and the amount of enthusiasm surprised us. It has really warmed the hearts of us philosophies.

Among the Instagram comments, we also found an admiring message from fashion designer Teemu Muurimäki.

He is one of the designers of Käärijä’s original outfit. Käärijä’s green leather bolero and black leather pants were designed by Teemu Muurimäki, stylist Vesa Silver and costume designer Elina Lario. The outfit was made by Yle costume shop and Jaana Björklund.

“Hopefully, with this boom, Käärijä will be encouraged to victory”

The twins hope that the knitting will inspire new people to join the craft hobby.

– Our philosophy is to inspire people to knit and find the joy of handicraft, so we encourage you to try knitting your own Käärijä sweater. Maybe this can even be someone’s first knitting job.

The twins estimate that it takes about 10–12 hours to work on the Käärijä sweater. Free knitting instructions can be found in Sanna and Maarian from the website. Craftsmen say that there is a version of the instructions for both adults and children.

– I hope this boom will encourage Käärijä to victory.

The wrapper has not yet commented on the creation of twin flicks, but the reason for this is quite clear.

– The wrapper seems to be that busy. We send Käärijä a lot of cheers for the last month before the h-moment.

“Then at least the sweaters can be worn”

Sanna and Maaria are already looking forward to Eurovision. They have made it a tradition with their friends to watch a preview during which they watch and review all the songs of the year.

– At that time, at least the sweaters can be worn. May Day is also a good time to wear a colorful sweater outside.

This is not the first time that the twins have put their creativity to the test during Eurovision.

– We have done Eurovision-related crafts in the past, including embroidery. That’s why it was almost self-evident that this year, too, we need to make some smart accessories.
