Since the closure of the former ice rink on the Gentsesteenweg, Kortrijk skaters and ice hockey players have had to move to other cities.
A group of parents of young ice hockey players therefore founded the non-profit organization IJsbaan Kortrijk and is spearheading the project for a new ice rink on the LandMarck site. That is the former Van Marcke company site on Wegvoeringenlaan.
The new skating infrastructure was officially opened on Wednesday evening. During a festive evening for sympathizers and sponsors, the ice rink was inaugurated with a demonstration of the Figure Skating Club Kortrijk Spurs and HC Kortrijk Spurs.
The ice rink has received a provisional permit from the City of Kortrijk.
