This is how Ukrainian secret service managed to eliminate “defector” in the lion’s den | War Ukraine and Russia

Sources in the Ukrainian Secret Service (SBU) have revealed how exactly they managed to eliminate former Ukrainian MP Ilya Kivoe in Moscow last week. The man supported the Russian invasion and was wanted internationally at the request of the Ukrainian justice system.

The SBU sources showed the Ukrainian news site Censor.NET images of the place where Kivoe was liquidated and of a body in the snow that allegedly belonged to the man.

Kivoe had been under surveillance for quite some time, it appears. The secret service mapped everything: from his movements and the routes he often took to his daily routines and habits. The Ukrainians discovered that he often recorded his anti-Ukrainian videos in his neighborhood.

Shrubs

Kivoe was heavily guarded, according to the SBU. This can be seen in a video shared by Censor.NET’s sources, in which an entrance gate was filmed from the bushes with an armed man in front of it. That would also have been the place where they waited for Kivoe to deal with him, according to the SBU.

The man’s body was found on December 6 on the grounds of a residence in a Moscow suburb. Emergency services told Russian state news agency RIA Novosti that the location was the village of Suponevo, in Odintsovo district.

According to the SBU, Kivoe was liquidated during a special operation. Ukraine’s military intelligence calls him “a defector and a propagandist.” “The fate of Ilya Kivu awaits every traitor of Ukraine,” Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman Andri Yusov said.

Kivoe was a member of the pro-Russian and Eurosceptic party ‘Opposition Platform – For Life’ in Ukraine. Although the party explicitly condemned the Russian invasion, it was banned by the Ukrainian judiciary.

Prison sentence

Kivoe himself did not condemn the invasion. The Ukrainian parliament stripped him of his powers and the court prosecuted him for, among other things, treason and inciting war. He was sentenced to fourteen years in prison and the confiscation of all his property.

Kivoe then wrote an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin asking him to grant him political asylum and Russian citizenship.
