The freezer, however, was removed a few hours after Banksy confirmed its authorship of work by posting a photograph of the work on your Instagram account, leaving a blank space.
New images of the mural that have come to light show that the freezer has now been replaced by a bin on wheels of the City Council, according to The Sun. It is currently unclear if the City Council was responsible for placing the wheelie bin in front of the artwork.
However, the Consistory has returned to place the freezer in its original place.
From the City Council they told The Sun that “The freezer that officers removed from Banksy’s Margate facility has now been made secure.or” and that it “has been returned to its original position on the site of the artwork today.”
They explain that it was necessary to carry out work in the freezer “for health and safety reasons”. North Thanet MP Sir Roger Gale said the freezer could not be left as it was as it was “so potentially dangerous” as “a child could climb in and suffocate”.
