Chantal Janzen doesn’t exactly string together one TV hit after another, so she will sincerely hope that the revival from The Voice of Holland will score. “There are already glimpses of viewing figures.”

The tension is rising for Chantal Janzen and her new co-host Edson da Graça: in two weeks, on Friday January 14, the infected talent show The Voice of Holland will return to the air. Everything is already on tape, so it can hardly go wrong. If all coaches keep their hands to themselves privately for a few more months, everything will be fine.

A tip of the veil

The big question is: will The Voice be embraced en masse by TV-watching Netherlands again or will everyone continue to think of the dirty antics of Linda de Mol’s boyfriend, the predatory behavior of Ali B or Marco Borsato who pulls everyone onto his lap? The Voice has quite a few former celebrities who are notorious for their pawing.

TV authority Tina Nijkamp thinks that the scores of the current Friday evening show, The Masked Singer, provide a glimpse of the mystery. That RTL 4 program faces the same competition as The Voice will soon face.

Lots of interest

Does it look good? Tina writes on her analysis channel: “RTL and also Chantal Janzen and Edson da Graça and the jury will study yesterday’s viewing figures with extra interest. Because there is already a glimpse of how The Voice will score. Because did the new Ik Vertrek XL and Oh Oh Den Haag steal viewers from The Masked Singer?”

The answer? “Mwoah, well no. In fact: The Masked Singer records much higher figures than in recent weeks: 1.707 million viewers. Ik Vertrek XL has a, not very high for that show, 910 thousand viewers. Oh Oh The Hague has an excellent 663 thousand viewers, about 200 thousand higher than the Gillis family.”

Not a flop

What exactly does this say according to Tina? “Cautious conclusion, but I think this says that The Voice will also score around 1.5 to 1.8 million viewers with the first episode. After that, I suspect between 1.2 and 1.6 million. These figures tell me that it can’t flop anymore anyway.”

She concludes: “The competition is simply quite weak. Too weak. So every chance of becoming a hit. At least blind auditions. After that it will collapse, because of boring intermediate rounds and zero live shows.”

The Voice final is also already on tape. The results will be announced live, namely in RTL Tonight.
