400 m hurdles – Krafzik and Demes continue

At the start of the third day of the World Championships in Budapest, Carolina Krafzik qualified for the semi-finals in the 400 m hurdles. The German series champion and EM eighth from Munich stayed in 54.53 seconds as the third of her heat just under her best performance of the season. For Eileen Demes (Neu-Isenburg), after fifth place in her preliminary run, it was enough to progress – because the 25-year-old improved her best performance to 55.29 seconds. “If I can really step on the gas again from the tenth hurdle, there may be a new best time in the semifinals,” Krafzik told ZDF.

European Champion and Vice World Champion Femke Bol tumbled one lap further in 53.39 seconds. The Dutchwoman is looking for compensation after she fell shortly before the finish line at the start of the World Championships in the mixed relay over 4×400 m – and so the possible dream of gold burst.

The semi-finals are on Tuesday (8:25 p.m., live on the first and on sportschau.de).
